Description

The cell culture medium of Kawsar Biotech Company is generally a suitable source of energy and nutrients that leads to the growth of many human cells and cell lines and regulates the cell cycle. Common components of the culture medium usually consist of amino acids, vitamins, minerals, glucose, and serum.

There are different types of cell culture media that depend on the type of cell, and each of the Stem Cells, Primary Cells, and Cell Lines, whether adherent or suspended, usually require different types of culture media, either normal or containing more nutrients for optimal growth.

Dulbecco’s Modified Eagle Medium (DMEM), commonly known as DMEM, is a widely used basal medium formulated to support the growth of various mammalian cells. The “Low” in DMEM Low culture medium typically refers to the concentration of glucose. The original DMEM formulation contained a low concentration of glucose (1 g/L) and sodium pyruvate.

Cells that have been successfully cultured in DMEM include primary fibroblasts, neurons, glial cells, human umbilical vein endothelial cells (HUVECs), and smooth muscle cells, as well as cell lines such as HeLa, 293, Cos-7, and PC-121. DMEM is available in different formulations, which may include higher glucose levels and with or without sodium pyruvate, depending on the specific needs of the cells being cultured.

For maintaining physiological pH, DMEM uses a sodium bicarbonate buffer system and is typically maintained in a 5–10% CO2 environment. It’s important to note that DMEM often requires supplementation with fetal bovine serum (FBS) for optimal cell growth.
